(warning, vore)

"Hunter!" My mother called from downstairs. "Are you ready?" She asked. I woke from my half asleep daze. I tiredly pulled on my jacket, grabbing my bag and heading down the stairs. "Come on… We are about to leave." She said. I nodded and walked out our front door. I walked to our truck parked in the driveway. I went around to the back, finding my dad putting the last of the bags in the covered truck bed.
He took my bag from me and stuffed it into the backend of the truck. He looked at me. "Tired?" He asked.
I yawned, nodding. "I haven't been up this early all summer." I said in a tired tone.
He put the truck's tailgate up and pulled the cover down. "Get in, we are about to leave." I didn't complain. I walked to the side I always sat on and got in, leaning against the now closed door, closing my eyes.

I woke, seeing the sun now well above the horizon. I had slept for hours, at least. My mom looked back to me smiling. "Want anything to eat? We stopped to get a quick breakfast." I nodded, and was handed a sausage on an English muffin. I happily ate it.
I watched the scenery pass by, just flat farmland for miles. I saw a bird fly over the truck. I smiled, I liked road trips like this. They were boring, sure, but it meant more time to think. Think about anything, I sometimes even let my imagination loose. Imagining a car or truck behind us is chasing us. Or looking at the side of the road, imagining a dragon running along side us. But all I did was watch the sky, thinking about our destination.
We were on our way to see family and friends in another state. I couldn't wait to see everyone again. I yawned, still tired from before. I closed my eyes again…

I woke to my stomach rumbling. "Mom? Are we going to stop for dinner soon?" I asked.
"We are almost to a stop with food." My dad answered. I looked out my window, watching the sun approach the western horizon. I waited. Then I felt the truck drift to the right, going up the off ramp. The car came to a stop at the light. I looked out the opposite window, seeing a few food places. I smiled.

A while later we were back on the road. It was now dark outside, the sun no longer providing us with warmth and light. I saw no reason to not to sleep, so I laid my head back and closed my eyes. I awoke to squealing tires, there was a crunch… then… nothing.

High above the interstate, flying in the rain, a gryphon saw everything. His blue eyes able to catch every detail in the horrible scene. The recent rain shower had made the road slippery. The truck had been doing fine coming up towards a bend. But something had caused it to start sliding, perhaps just the rain itself did it. But that did not matter. The crash was so bad that the truck split in two. The cab coming off the axles and supports.
The gryphon  needed to get down there. He dove, landing near the upside-down cab of the truck. He poked his head through the shattered driver's window. There was no life in the front. He poked his head through the window right behind it, and found something.

I woke, a pain in my head I was no longer buckled into my seat, but laying on the roof of the truck. I looked at my door wanting to get out. But I froze, right at my door, sticking It's head in the window was a strange creature. It was grey with blue around it's eyes and a curved black beak.

The gryphon made eye contact with the human boy. He smiled, reaching a talon in the truck to help the boy. The boy backed away, and the bird-like creature frowned. He pulled his head back out and walked out of the  human's sight. He waited for the boy to exit on his own, which he did.
The boy walked to the front of the remains of the truck. He fell to his knees, crying. The gryphon walked up behind him, placing a talon on his back comfortingly. The boy jumped, falling forward. He rolled over to see the gryphon again. He got a good look at it for the first time. It was mostly grey, it's belly was covered in black feathers, with a blue stripe separating the two different colors. He looked up at the curved beak, fearfully.
The gryphon walked to him laying on the wet concrete next to him. The boy just started crying again. The gryphon looked at him sadly, he leaned over licking the kid's face, cooing.
The kid recoiled from the tongue, still crying. The gryphon wanted to comfort the kid, it was obvious, someone he loved was in that truck. He cooed, trying to not seem hostile. He moved closer to the boy. He wrapped a talon around the boy, pulling him to his black furred chest. "Don't worry…" He cooed.
The boy started to struggle, looking up at the gryph. "Leave me alone." He said, crying.
The gryphon looked up at the headlights of a car. "We're going!" He said, wrapping both talons around the boy and taking flight, into the rainy night sky. He flew to a cliff, landing in an outcropping. He released the boy.
"Why did you do that!" He screamed, tears falling from his eyes. "They would have helped me!"
"Probably not as much as I will." He said quietly, not wanting to sound menacing.
"They would have taken me to the rest of my family… What will you do?" He said, crying.
"I… uh… will… I'll never leave your side, I'll do whatever you want me to. I'll… comfort you…"
"How so…"
"Like this." He put his beak down by the kid's face. He licked him, then opened his curved beak. He lightly put it over the boy's head.
The boy struggled and started screaming. The gryphon wanted to reassure him, but he couldn't. The crown of the boy's head hit the gryph's throat. He swallowed, pulling more of the boy into his beak. The boy struggled, making the gryphon murr. He swallowed again, and again, pulling the boy's feet into his beak. He closed it, swallowing one last time.
The gryphon murred, then he heard the boy crying, louder than before. "Don't worry little one…" He cooed. He rubbed his belly, trying to reassure him. It didn't work. "Hey… What is your name?" He said to his slightly bulged belly.

I sniffed. "I-I-I-I'm H-Hu-hunter…" I cried some more. Then I heard him say.
"Hunter… My name is steel."
I didn't feel reassured by learning the creature's name. I just started crying, the thought of both my parents being dead and this creature wanting to digest me, making me too sad.
"Hey, don't cry… I'm just trying to make you feel better, and protect you."
"No! you just wanted food!"

The gryphon felt hurt, he was only trying to help. "Please, I am really here to help you feel better…" He said sadly. "This is how I comfort people."
"How? By ending their misery?" He said, tears still falling from his face.
"No no no no!… By making you comfortable, giving you a place to rest… giving you a sense of protection…" He said, telling the truth.
"No! You're going to digest me!" The boy said, crying harder.
"Are there any acids in there?" He asked, sadness evident in his voice.
The boy looked and felt around. "Well… no…" He said realizing the bird might not be lying. Then he noticed. "Why do y-you sound sad too?"
"Because you don't trust me…" He stated, still sad.
The boy stopped his crying. Had he really hurt this thing's feelings? He stayed quiet, and laid his head down. Passing out from exhaustion inside the predator, praying he'd be alright when he woke.
The gryphon sighed, when he felt the boy nod off. He frowned, feeling guilty and sad. He didn't mean to scare him so much.
This is a story featuring my gryphon, Steel. His name was suggested by ~DianaGem.
I'm not too sure about this story. I like it, but, it doesn't feel right. If you think I should add more to this let me know, because otherwise it will just sit and never be concluded.

Anyways, fave if you think it deserves it, and comments are greatly appreciated.

I think you should do a part two as well. The ending of this feels like a cliffhanger waiting to be solved. It would be cool to see how the story goes with the boy and the gryphon traveling together. I like this story a lot.  :)
